A mother and her small daughter came in today. Small Daughter ordered her drink, then Mom ordered hers ... and then Small Daughter said to Mom: "I'll pay."

She pulled a $5 bill from her little purse and solemnly handed it to me. Mom thanked her sincerely for the treat, and I told her what a lovely thing she was doing for her Mom as I handed her her change.

Once in a very rare while, I'm almost sorry I never had kids.
