You are the most awesomest tech ever!

I'm taking a web class. I called in the last week of July to set up an appointment for installation of fiber optics in my little apartment. The guy came out, looked at my fiber, and told me there was something wrong, the light wasn't coming through. Said he'd let the engineering dept know, and they would get back to me.

A week later, I called verizon again, asking how that was going. Nobody had an answer for me. Phone rep put in a request to have engineering call me. No calls for the next week.

I called again. Phone rep couldn't find any notes. Put in another request for installation with notes that fiber was damaged, somebody needs to come out and fix this. Waited two weeks. Nothing.

Called again. Notes on account that engineering came out to my apt complex and did some kind of repair on the fiber at the main hub to the complex. (I CANNOT be the only person in this complex who has fiber account set up. Verizon wired the entire complex last summer for it.) phone rep set up another appointment for installation.

Young tech named BJ shows up at 8:15 am. Looks, says fiber in my apartment is still damaged somehow. I explain what I have been through and that I need this SOON because my web class is starting next week. He then calls engineering and uses his awesome tech powers to get an engineering dude to come out and help him.

Engineering dude shows up about 9:30. These two gentlemen (never did get engineering tech's name) spent 6 hours tracking fiber throughout the complex, trying to figure out why fiber in my apartment won't work. That's right, 6 HOURS. Apparently, there was a kink in the fiber in my apartment. Fixed that. Still won't work. They track the fiber out to discover that the hub that divides the fiber between my line and neighbor above me's line is defective. Engineering dude fixes that. Still won't work.

Finally discover that the hub dividing lines between my building and neighboring building also has something defective. (Nobody else in my building has fiber, apparently.) Engineering dude fixes that. At 3:30 PM, finally get a light on fiber in my apartment. Hallelujah! Engineering dude goes on his merry way. BJ finally begins installation. At 4:30 PM, finally has fiber set up in my apartment, has run line through apartment to my computer. Doesn't work.

BJ calls in to his department to discover that there is some sort of outage covering half the state. Assures me that when outage is fixed, I will be able to have my connection, no problems. Leaves me his card just in case. Says if there is no service by tomorrow morning, call him and he will make sure it is taken care of.

Mentions that he missed his other two installations because of this. I apologize in advance for any SC behavior on the part of his other appointments. He laughs and says don't worry, he can take it. I thank him profusely and restrain myself from lying prostrate at his feet in worship. BJ finally leaves at 5:30 pm.

That's right, he spent from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM getting me my fiber connection. How do I convey my respect at the level of dedication that is?

BJ, you are the most awesome tech ever. I worship you!

Definately make sure you call Verizon and put on the record your appreciation, and if he is a subcontractor call his boss and tell him too. I don't know if Verizon does it, but the Comcast CSR I talked to said that they actually sends bonuses to techs who get compliment calls.
The only words you said that I understood were "His", "Phone" and "Ya'll". The other 2 paragraphs worth was about as intelligible as a drunken Teletubby barkin' come on's at a Hooter's waitress.
