A novel concept
Get it? Because I work in a bookstore!
The other night, I'm closing down the store and I go back to kids to start cleaning up the mess I'm sure has been left there. I grab all the adult books that the parents hand left back there while their children played and took them back to the customer service desk. I then go back and begin cleaning up the mess the kids made. Their is an older gentleman sitting in a chair reading a magazine while his daughter is making a mess of the books. My heart begins to sink thinking that this is going to be a pompous entitled prick. So I start picking up her mess and he stops me. He says that his daughter is going to clean up her own mess. I ask if he's sure and he replies, "You better believe it."
I did cartwheels down the main isle of the store. Well, not really because I am not that athletic and I would've died.
Later, a group of people had been sitting in the comfy chairs looking at all of the photography/art books and had a huge pile on the table. I went over to go ahead and clean those up and again, I was stopped. They told me that they would put them away, they were just choosing which books they wanted to get.
The gears in my head stopped. Two sets of customers in one night who actually cleaned up after themselves. I didn't know what to do with myself.
