Not really a customer but still restored some of my faith in folks:

I was doing some shopping at our local mall and went from a Best Buy, which is seperate from the rest of the mall and about a half a block walk outside to the nearest store, to a Target.

Apparently, while I was in the parking lot putting my goods in the car, my wallet slipped out - and I didn't notice until about 20 minutes later. I was totally panicked, thinking I had not only lost my $100 in cash but my ID, CCs etc.

I ran back to BB and asked one of the employees if anything had been turned in when I was approached by a woman who told me she had found it and turned it in, CCs, cash and all! Talk about sweet relief! I thanked her a ton - I just feel bad that I didn't reward her in some way...

It is nice to know that there are still good people out there. An honest person like that was probably happy with your thanks and would not have accepted a reward.

having lost a wallet (when i was much younger with about 20$ which is alot to a 11y/o in 1987) i always make an effort to return wallets untouched except for looking at the id to see if the person might still be around.

one day i was at the local del taco and i went to sit down and some one had left their purse behind, i picked it up and gave it to the person behind the counter, and the lady rushed in a few seconds later, she thanked me for returning her purse with every thing inside

of course what goes around comes around, as i left my purse a few days later, and some one returned it with everything inside, the counter person said that its nice to see that people are being so nice as to return lost items instead of takeing them and that he was glad that there were people like us (refering to the person who returned my purse) in the world.

i always have the train of thought that if i lost something i would want it reuturned.

many moons ago, my friend and I came across a wallet with a few hundred in cash in it, cc's .... the usual... we turned it in immediately to the local police station...then went to work which back then was to clean municipal toilets - NOT a pleasant task, but we helped the homeles as well - so the time passed.

It occurred to me then, with that money I could paid for my text books and get mum and dad's phone back on.... but then it would not have been the municipal toilets that stunk the most.

A month later, my mate and I had long forgotten about the wallet, and were at work, cleaning the bathrooms, then wash up and help voluntarily with a soup kitchen. A policeman walked by, I recognised him from the police station - and asked if the wallet had been claimed.

He said yes it had been and the disabled man had tears in his eyes that everything was intact, that money was for his treatment - the policeman said, that the entire police station were proud of my friend and I....

Karma had its way... and my wallet, all intact was returned when I left it on a train - i don't know who it was who returned it - but I am eternally thankful.

On two occasions I have misplaced or dropped my wallet, and both times I've had it returned to me. I assumed that it would have been stolen, but instead, someone has picked it up and looked through it for a phone number, calling me and arranging to return it.

The most recent time I lost it (middle of last year), I offered the man who found it some cash reward, since I would have to pay a fortune in replacement fees for credit cards, drivers licence etc. otherwise. He refused any reward whatsoever.

Thank you to all the kind people out there!

I heard about one case where the wallet was returned with an addition - a note saying "Merry Christmas from the wallet fairy".

I entered a cafe while in town the other week, and was placing my wheelie-suitcase near the entrace where the staff was standing, as it was empty except for myself and the staff, and looked down next to the case, and located a wallet on the floor beside the stool, picked it up and got the staff's attention, turned out one of them did not notice his pockets wasn't suitable/designed to hold a wallet of that size, and it fell down there and he continuted on with his work for quite a period of time, not even realizing the absence of his wallet (I'd notice it rightaway if it was me) as it was of a certain size....

Needless to say, he was pretty relieved that I found it and promptly returned it to him.

TTO and I were at the movies, and at the end we started to exit. I noticed a rather fat wallet on a seat. We went to lost and found to hand it, but they were useless. So we started going through the cards in the wallet to find a contact number. Called it, and it was the owner of the wallet. Met up with him 5 minutes later, gave him with wallet (with fat wad of cash intact), and went on our merry way. He did his level best to buy us a drink, but that was our good deed for the day.
