  • Best customer of the grocery days

When I worked as a barista at the local health food store, I had a wonderful woman who would come in every morning. She would get the same drink every day and was very polite. I would go out of my way to make everything as perfect as I could for her. At New Year's last year she told me she appreciated all the effort I went through for her and wanted to reward me. She told me to go the specialty beer section and pick up a six-pack. I did and she bought it for me. What a nice lady! She also bought the other morning barista flowers and a longtime employee a telescope.

wow! what a truly generous lady - but it also reflects on the great service you and your team also provided.

Best customer of the grocery days

Yep, I had an appreciative customer in my Revco Pharmacy days. Brought me roses, bought me a teddy bear with balloons on Valentines Day. Of course, he was married and twenty years older than me!

The best appreciations I got were:

1.) An apology and a hug from a customer that had accidentally ordered a cake from the wrong store. When she came to pick up her cake, it wasn't there (since it was at a different store), I worked my butt off to make her one and gave it to her for like a quarter of the price because I thought we lost the order. The next day she realized the mistake and came back to apologize.

2.) Someone that tried to give me a $10 tip for packing their groceries "perfectly," which was the way I always packed them. Unfortunately we weren't allowed to get tips.

Still, this is one situation where it really IS the thought that counts. Always feels good when you just do your thing and people think you're doing perfect.
