  • To my boss

I'm sure many of you have seen my "ho ho ho, merry nervous breakdown" thread in General Work Chat.

Well, this goes to my boss. We'll call him "Bob". And believe me, I've already thanked him for all of this in person. He's definitely a nominee for boss of the year.

Thanks for forgetting about my lates in my last shifts last year.

Thanks for forgetting about my no-shows afterwards (I no showed for nearly 2 weeks - I finally had the hospital call him after I'd been there 4 or 5 days to tell him where I was).

Thanks for going to bat for me with the store manager to get my medical leave approved.

Thanks for telling me I probably qualify for short term disability (and helping me apply - I was approved).

Thanks for just telling everyone that I'm out on medical leave - and letting me tell my coworkers what happened on my terms.

Thanks for scheduling me around my outpatient treatment and AA meetings.

Most importantly, thanks for caring. And well, not firing me and stuff.

For what it's worth, even through all of this, I've had no written disciplinary action during my entire employment there (14 months) - and only had one "stop showing up late" asschewing from my old boss in my old department. How I've managed this is beyond me.

A good boss is worth his or her weight in gold. Sounds like you've got an excellent one.
I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.
