  • Customer with Cell Phone Manners

Today, when I was serving a customer, the next customer got a call on his cell phone. He told the person on the other line that he would call back and that it was rude to talk on the cell phone while going through the check out and he hung up by the time it got to be his turn.

I love it when customers in line do that Especially if the person I'm currently serving IS on the phone and they say it loud enough for all to hear
You know, even my best friend, who's "always" on the phone tells people on the other side of the line "ok I'm going to pay for my groceries now so you're gonna have to wait in my pocket." (I've been in her pocket a lot of times.)
Customer (on the phone): YOU ARE DUMB! D-U-M-M!

Wow, I'm impressed, you're lucky! I wish I had a dollar for every time I've had someone stay on the phone and just go "One sec" fire their order off like mad and get back on the phone.

If I don't have a line, I stand and wait for them pointedly. Since cell phone talkers are never the ones who know their order correctly, I almost always have questions. Things like "what kind of bread is your sandwich on?" "What condiments would you like on your sandwich?" "What size soda?" Y'know, questions one might like to answer if they want the order made correctly. My computer won't let me move to the next screen until each prompt is answered, so often I get a talker who fires off the entire order, only to have me walk him through each step ooooh soooo slooooowleeee.

If I do have someone else in my line, I just talk to them normally. If they don't respond, I raise my voice and try again. And again. So far I haven't had to shout yet, but I do get the death glares that make me laugh.
