SO teh saga- I have healed the MCL but the injured meniscus has risen to the fore, so I am still on crutches. Happily I have enough range of motion to drive.
These are *old* crutches (like pre 1980, if not 1970) and have two nut-and-bolts holding them together at the bottom. Late the other night *both* nuts stripped, leaving me with one crutch. Not good if I have to leave the house (read I am not going up steps on one crutch). My husband is away for Nat'l Guard, so it's just little old me coping alone, as our friends/family are at work, newly married, out of town, or moving this week.
So what does a sensible girl do? Call the small, nearby hardware store and ask pertinent questions.
THe guy who answered listened to my issues and told me to just drive up and honk! he'd come out and get the the bolts and find me replacement bits!
That was above and beyond! Thank you, hardware guy! He even helped me put the thing back together. Karma smiles upon him
