  • Thanks, you have no idea how much I needed that laugh

A standard question when I do returns is to ask whether not an item is damaged or defective. Usually I get just a "Nah", or an explination in great detail about why it doesn't work or it's not what they wanted. Yesterday I had my first customer get worried that if it WAS defective, I wouldn't take it back. I told her that an item being broken didn't really mean I couldn't return it, it just meant I couldn't put it back on the shelf, and joked that a lot of people gave me long explinations about how items don't fit or are the wrong color.

When the woman behind her got to me, she plopped a bike seat cover on the counter, gave me a huge grin, and proclaimed "Yes, there's something wrong, my butt's too big!"
It's little things that make the difference between 'enjoyable', 'tolerable', and 'gimme a spoon, I'm digging an escape tunnel'.
