Yesterday, I was having a really sucktacular day. Traffic jams at the copy machine, assignments being dumped on me left and right, lots of 'oh just one thing'.....not the worst day I've ever had, but I was pretty grumpy.
So, one of the professors is having a meeting. I gather up ice and a few sodas to take to the meeting. I get down there, and this same professor who has been dealing me shit All Day LONG says to the other two professors, "Guess where Admin's going next year?!? Why don't you tell them?" So, I start to explain, then she blurts out, "She's moving up the Caw!!" Lots of
all around (I realized later she was referring to a River. Anywho.)
So, I explain, "I'm going to *nearby university* for my doctorate in the fall blahdy blah". One of the other professors (who is the most senior faculty member in the university) said, "And then you're coming back here for your MBA, right??" The sheer ridiculousness of that statement made me
. I am sooo not the business type, regardless of how well I've got on here. This professor then looks serious and says, "If you keep *that* personality, along with your cooperation and willingness to learn and work, you will do *very* well. We've really loved having you here." And etc. At that point I was getting a little misty and didn't catch all that he was saying.
It was just touching to feel a little appreciated for once.
