Coworker Told Off On-Duty Checker

Yesterday, one of my coworkers had me cash his check. While I was doing that, one of the checkers called the desk because he needed help with something. The coworker that was getting his check cashed told this checker that he would have to wait until I was done with his transaction. I silently mouthed "thanks" to this coworker.

The checker wanted help right away and the coworker I was cashing a paycheck for told him to wait until I was done with him. Sorry for the confusion but I wasn't sure what else to call it.
