For those who haven't read one of my previous posts, work was screwing me over with hours. Our regular scheduler was on a two month vacation, so we had a substitute. When school ended, I automatically wrote a note to the substitute that I was able to work everyday, but Fridays.
Well, this didn't work, I had my previous hours of only weekends(The last part of the school year, I was in Track, so I could only work weekends.). So, I figured that maybe she didn't type in my availablity. After a while, I was still only weekends. I wrote a second note. She came to me and promised me at least 4 mornings a week.
Did I get it? No. I only worked weekends, but if they needed someone, they called me in.
I was about ready to cry. 1) I'm going into my Senior year and am looking into colleges. My family can't help me with college, so I am on my own. I couldn't even put any in my savings because of rising gas prices and having to get things on my own drained me of my paycheck. 2) I was stuck home all the time because my friends were all working.
Yet, she gave the hours to the people who NEVER want to work. She even told an employee (who happens to be my best male friend) that she was trying to be fair and that the regular scheduler gave only the good people teh good hours. All I had to say was "No shyte! The reason they get the hours is because they are the ones who WANT the hours!"
So, now the regular scheduler came into work a few days ago and asked me my availability. I told her everyday. Screw saying not Fridays. I don't care anymore. I can't afford to ask for days off. So, the new schedule is up and next week, I am working 5 days and some really good, long shifts, in the morning, just how I like it.
I seriously love her. I get to get out of the house and I get to make money to put in my savings. I don't have to look for a second job or ask my mom for money. I was able to do some maintenance on my car. *happy dance*
I dunno how significant this may seem to you,the readers, but this is amazing for me. This is my last summer before I totally have to get serious and I just want to be able to be a teenager, while still being able to take care of the responsibilities that I now have.
I love the regular scheduler.
