  • My coworkers went against a male stereotype!

Around Saturday or Sunday (I think it was Sunday), I was working drive thru. We slow down a bit, so i go over to help front window. Who should show up, but my ex? Here's the story with him. He broke up with me because he felt he would be a bad boyfriend because of some stuff he was going through. Then he started to get cozy with my cousin. After asking him and her not to get involved, he blew up at me and said that no-one could ever love me because I'm a low person. He knew that I loved him, so this made it so much worse. He ended up dating her.

Much to my advantage, drive thru starts to get busy. I clench my jaw and just work. After a bit, drive thru slows down. I ask the running shift manager(and she is the new store manager) if I can go to the back and take a breather. She asked me what was wrong. I told her that I just saw someone I never wanted to see. She lets me go to the back.

I am so close to crying. My eyes are tearing up. Jeff and Jordan were in the back, doing some dishes work. I start to cry. Missy, the manager, comes back and asks me if everything is alright. I told her I would be fine. Then she asked me if I needed a hug. I would have felt awkward if my manager gave me a hug, so I told her no.

Jeff and Jordan look at me and ask what's wrong. I told them about what my ex had said and done and the fact that he showed up. Jordan tried to get me to smile, but I couldn't. Missy came back again and said "Jeff, let Andrea do dishes and you come up front. She can take her frustrations out on the dishes." I cracked a smile.

Jordan stays back to finish food count and I'm still crying, despite his attempts to cheer me up.

My favorite coworker,Zach comes back with my best guy friend,Raziel. They ask what's wrong and I told them. Razi already knew the situation. Zach asked "Do you want me to kill him?"

I laughed and told him no, but a beating up will suffice.

"Well, me, you, Jeff,Jordan, and Razi can take him on."

He got a chuckle out of me.

As I'm doing the dishes, Raziel gave me a huge hug and told me that everything was going to be ok. That made me cry even more.

Josh came back and gave me a hug.

Jeff came to the back and held out a bag of Sweet Tarts. I took a few and handed the bag back.

"No. You keep it. I have another bag in my pocket."

So I start to cry again. My coworkers were being so awesome. They weren't being typical males who ran away from the first sign of emotion. They were threatening to beat him up,giving me hugs, and candy, and trying to cheer me up.

A bit later, Razi came to the back.

"You wanna go see the Dark Knight again today?"

"Razi, what a dumb question. Of course I want to see that amazing movie."

    We laugh.

Now, I never really use my coworkers' names on here, but because they were being such great friends, I decided that they deserved the recognition. I know it was unprofessional of me to cry like that, especially being a crew trainer and needing to set the example, but it just came out. It wasn't just the fact that my ex showed up. I had other repressed feelings and anger. My first love (whom I still have feelings for) is going to be a dad. Now he's messing with my head.

So, Zach,Missy,Razi,Josh,Jordan,Jeff you guys rock! Even though Jordan annoys me most of the time...

I'm sorry your ex was such a jerk. How awful of him to do that to you.

However, I'm glad your coworkers are so awesome. Nice people make it so much easier.

The only upside to idiot jerk exes are the fact that you get to see just what friends and coworkers will do yo cheer you up.

You're lucky to have such at great crew!

You wan to know a secret? Stuff like that happens, and we can only weather it, not control it.

There's nothing unprofessional about getting shaken up by a sucker-punch like seeing your Ex- (Who doesn't deserve you, by the way!) and having to take a while to compose yourself. The very fact that you even worry about it being unprofessional is a sign that you're a very, very professional person.

Also, major kudos to your awesome friends.
