There are times I feel really useless at my job. I was hired to clean, run the gift shop, and give tours. However, my boss has a tendency to steal my tours out from under me. I don't think he does it intentionally, but he walks in on the tour and starts talking. The next thing I know I've lost my group. The other things is that if we don't have customers, and I'm done cleaning I have nothing to do. Which makes me feel guilty for not working on top of useless. Though I'm quite honest when I say there is NOTHING to do.
Anyway, last Friday I was supposed to go out with my older brother, but he got heat stroke. He spent the whole night being sick, it was really depressing. The next day, I went to work feeling pretty lousy. This woman came in with her mother and her son. He was the cutest thing with chubby little fingers and curly blond hair. The lady was really excited about what I could tell her. My boss didn't show up during my tour so i did the whole thing on my own. I showed her son all of the most fun things at the museum. He was really excited. Plus the woman kept buying things at the gift shop. Before the tour, she bought a ton of stuff. I'd show them one part of the museum, then she'd buy some stuff. We'd look at the outdoor displays, and she bought stuff when she came back in.
It's really hard to describe her energy. But we spent the whole time chatting and laughing like old friends. It really perked me up, but the thing that made my day was what she said when she was leaving.
"Thanks Hina. I hope you have a great day. I'm really glad that I had someone as energetic and intelligent as you to show us around. I'm still shocked you're in your third year of university. You're very lovely. Bye."
