Many bridesmaids complain that the dress that's been chosen for the wedding is unattractive, ugly color, too expensive, tailoring to expensive, can't be worn again (duh).
This week we sent a customer home with what is arguably, a really unattractive dress. It's purple, BARNEY purple. Like most bridesmaid dresses, it will not be suitable for any other occasion, ever. It required extensive alterations, including adding extra fabric, that the customer had to pay for.
The fabric was difficult to work with, and I as the technician, was not thrilled with the results. I did the best I could.
She was happy with the result. She was happy that her dress is ready, and all she has to do is enjoy her trip and anticipate her friend's wedding. She's happy for her friend, and not griping because being a bridesmaid is such a chore.
