I figure that this belongs here even though it contains a sucky child because, well, the good in here frankly outweighs the bad.
So yesterday I'm stuck at the registers and this family of Mom, Dad, boy and two girls come in (Two girls about 8 and 5, boy around 6), they go off to shop for a bit and I don't see them for about 20 minutes and I get busy in the meantime. When it's quieted down again I can hear that little boy wailing at the top of his lungs "MOM I WAAAAAANT MY RIIIIIIIIDE!" and sobbing. I mentally eyeroll and think "Oh dear."
The family comes up in the meantime and both parents are calm. Mom is even saying "No, you will not get a ride, not when you're acting like that" and Dad is praising the girls. The girls come up to me with the basket, say Hi and begin to unload their stuff and standing very patiently aside when the dad comes up to pay. Brother in the meantime is still wailing and crying and Mom is still telling him that he won't get his "ride". The family leaves, little boy still wailing but leaving me very impressed that the mom didn't cave in and that the girls were so well behaved.
I'm not sure what the boy wanted but I think he wanted some sort of Hotwheels thing.
