  • T-Mobile....store sucks, customer service line is great!

A few weeks ago my wife decided on a whim to purchase 2 cell phones (one for me, one for her). They told her that she had 14 days to return them if she changed her mind. She brought them to me at work, all excited about what she got. I felt like a jerk when I had to burst her bubble and make her take them back because we couldn't afford them (once in awhile she gets a little overexcited and buys before she thinks). She returned them later that night and the guy at the store told her she couldn't get the money back on the card because she used a debit card. She would now have to wait 2-3 weeks for a check to come in the mail. OK, that did not make me happy. They never told her that when they said she had 14 days to return them. But whatever. So the other day she went into the store because we still hadn't gotten a check, and they said that they tried depositing the check in our account, but that we had never left them the routing number so they couldn't issue the refund.....OK, WTF? First you say you're mailing a check, now we're supposed to know you're going to try and direct deposit it? Sorry, but my psychic powers got shut off. Forgot to pay the bill.

She came to my work and explained all this to me, which left me NOT THE LEAST BIT happy. I got on the phone and called the customer service line right away. I was all set to bitch and moan and cuss out whoever I had to in order to get my $75 back. The first person I talked to sounded very nice, and transferred me to the correct department. When I got to this guy, he was SO nice.....he took the account information right away, apologized numerous times for the stores rudeness and lack of communication, and told me the money would be in the account within 3 business days. And the money was there this morning.

I even told him that I was prepared to fight with anyone I had to and that I thought they would give me a hard time and I was so inpressed that they were so polite and willing to fix the problem for me.

    Just thought I'd share.

PS - When she returned the phones, the guy at the store told her that because she returned them, she'd be banned from T-Mobile for a year. Anyone ever heard of this? I forgot to ask the guy on the phone about it.

I haven't heard of them banning anyone. But I Love their customer service line. One night I called to pay my bill and the service rep asked me a couple questions about text message usage. Turns out that I was better off to have unlimited than what I had so she not only changed it but back dated it for the previous month so that the several hundred texts that my son had were covered under the unlimited plan.

They did that for my parents once...my sister used WAAAAYYY too many minutes (talking to the boyfriend of course). T-Mobile bumped us to the next higher plan, saying that until the bill is actually sent for that month, they can make changes. Unfortunately, my parents only realized the problem after getting the previous month's bill, so they had to pay for $20 or more of overage minutes. But if they hadn't changed it, the next month would have had like $100 of overages...so lucky them.
