I wanted to give our waitress a gold star tonight. Instead I left a big tip... I think she'll appreciate that more.
So The Beau and I reserve Sunday's for date night, since it's the only night we have off. Tonight we decided to give this little place called 'The Catacombs" a try. I had been once or twice before about 2+ years back. We find a cute little table in the back, and settle down to wait. It is a small place, there is only 3 people working. The cook, the waitress, and the bar keep. And there is about 20 people tonight. So we know it's going to take some time. But... eh, thats life.
Well there was a party of 4 sitting at a table near ours. And the whole time they were there all they were doing was talking LOUD and bitching about everything. One lady sent back her plate because the center was cold (I understand this) But it was the way she did it that pissed me off. The waitress comes over and asks if everything is okay. And this lady says.
"I should say NOT! My food is cold in the center! TAKE IT BACK and heat it up!"
'alright ma'am I'll have that right back out for you'
"God. If this was my first time here I would be SEVERELY unimpressed with this place!"
The waitress comes back and gives her her food. and then the lady demands... not asks... DEMANDS. A clean fork. because...you know... having one that she already used is just unacceptable.
After this little exchange she comes over and takes our order. apologizing for the wait. We know it's going to take forever, but thats okay... its a very comfy and inviting place.
So we are waiting and the whole time this table is complaining loudly about how it took their food 40 min to get to there table... not caring that all the other people in the place have ALSO been waiting on their food just as long. And then bitching because someone got their food sooner than them. ((Said person ordered a Pizza, and bitch order pasta and stuff. Their pizza is a very thin crust traditional pizza that takes less than 8 min to cook.... while the pasta takes at LEAST 10 min...))
Anyway, they finally get ready to leave and I hear them say this,
SC1: How much of a tip should I leave?
SC2:Why? Not like they deserve one.
SC3: Honestly, making us wait so long for our food.
SC4: My pasta was COLD after all.
SC1: *laugh* your right. Service like that shouldn't be rewarded.
I almost choked on my salad.
So we finish our meal, it had taken about a half hour from the time we ordered till our food was done. And the poor girl kept apologizing, finally the Beau told her not to worry about it. We knew they were busy and couldn't be more pleased with our food AND the service.
When she brought us our check, she told us that because we had to wait so long she took half off the pizza we ordered.
Here I was expecting to spend $25+ and our bill was only like $14.63
I really doubt that the ASSHATS got any sort of niceness out of her.
...Just made me feel good that people DO care and won't take their frustration out on someone else all the time just cause.
