The Butter Customer
Today, a customer thought that she was overcharged on butter so we went to check. There was no sign where the butter was displayed. The customer mentioned seeing it in the paper so I mentioned that we would take a look when we got back to the desk. When I was checking the other section where the butter was, I nearly collapsed.
The customer had me sit down which I did even though sitting in a cold section is not my first choice of seatings. She even decided she didn't care about getting the butter problem fixed right then.
One of my coworkers, who was working on dairy but usually works produce, went to get the store director. A few minutes later, the store director, deli manager, and general merchandise manager came over. The store director had me drink some orange juice and even suggested sitting downstairs for a bit. Downstairs, the general merchandise manager felt my forehead and noticed I was warm.
I had mentioned that I had been feeling nauseous for most of the day. I even showed the store director the doctor's note I have in my apron.
Another customer wanted to know if I was all right and I mentioned I would be. He even mentioned that my health was more important than the job.
