Okay, last night i was a closer at my restaurant, and RIGHT after the majority of servers were cut for the night, the 3 closers had a rush... all of us were inundated with new tables.
Now, i will 100% admit this, i got overwhelmed. i was doing good until i got sat with my last table(i know is horrible grammar, is too late to care)
this last table(a 2 top of a couple that looked as equally tired as i was) came in about 2 minutes after the big push. i got the drinks out to them, and hteir salads... but their food... i put it in the computer, but i forgot to hit the send button for about 5 minutes.
so yeah, they were finishing their salads so i went to go check on their food, and i saw on the computer i hadn't sent it yet(oh shit!!!!!) i quickly hit the send button, and told kitchen that the couples food needed to be rushed, and that it wasmy fault.
I then went to the table and told them that i messed up and how. they were understanding, they also went on about how much their day sucked.... traveling cross-country, flat-tire, booked hotel that they had reservations, and more of the like.
i went and talked to manager to see about getting a free dessert for them due to my tardiness on their order. he agreed and did not give me a hard time either... anyway, though their food came out late, and that they had a shitty day, they left me a 10 dollar tip on a 25 dollar ticket!
so yeah, that made my day right there. ppl that can show affection and apprection to others even when they have a crap-tastic day!
