  • Awesome time at Red Robin.

My brother and I head to a local Red Robin. (What can I say, I'm a burger man.) On a Saturday night at 7 PM, the place was understandably packed. However, it was packed mostly with big families, birthday and the like. The two of us were seated within, literally, one minute. One point to Red Robin.

The waitress comes up to us and we exchange the usual greetings, and order the food and drinks. During said time, they also started to do one of those clapping birthday songs. Annoyed, I held my fingers to my ears as she came back with the drinks.

AW (Awesome Waitress): Believe me, it gets more annoying the more you hear it.
Me: I can only imagine... and you can't plug your ears to drown it out, either!
    AW: *Laugh*
Me: I know what it's like to work in this kind of job. Just, keep up the good work.
    AW: I certainly will.

And she certainly did! The food arrived, and she frequently came back to check on us, exchanging a few more things about the pleasures of retail (*cough*) every time she swung by.

So it's about time to go, and the check is delivered. But before she leaves, I stop her one more time.

Me: Oh, uh, one last thing.
    AW: Yes?
Me: We've been to this restaurant... I don't know, a couple dozen times? You are, without a doubt, the best.
AW: *Brightening up* Oh, that's so nice of you to say! Thank you!

And she walks away, hopefully making other people's lives a little nicer.

My brother paid the tab, but I managed to slip in an extra $5 when he wasn't looking.
