My husband and I regularly go to Carabba's in Shreveport. We have never, ever had anything less than a stellar experience there. One time they brought me a garden salad instead of a Caesar salad and another time we got called "ladies" (my husband has very long hair and was seen from the back when this happened, but he's used to it by now), but those are the only times anything's ever gone remotely wrong.
The first time we ever tried the place, the waiter gave us free dessert. He asked before he took our order if we'd ever been there, we said no, so that may have been their standard treat for first-time customers. I was training my husband on proper tipping procedure (he used to NEVER tip) so I wound up giving a very generous tip for the waiter's patience in explaining the menu and recommending a dish for me, and for the free cheesecake.
We got that same waiter the second visit, but since then it's been a different server every time. But at no time have we ever been disappointed.
Yesterday we went after going to see a movie ("Up" is awesome, BTW!) and the waitress was very friendly and chatty, asking about the movie, sympathizing with the fact that I stuffed myself with too much popcorn and wouldn't be needing an appetizer, and describing some of the new menu items, one of which my husband decided to try while I stuck with my spinach ravioli. She was very attentive without being pushy, as has been the case every time we've been there. My husband paid the bill, but I tipped $10 for the $30 meal. I don't think I've ever tipped less than $10 for the two of us, and our meals usually cost about the same amount every time. Money very well spent to keep up that level of service...if I could afford more, I would tip more!
