This takes place at my food service job. I was working the sandwich station as I always do. I am in the middle of a long line of sandwiches and hand one gentleman his order. He says "I ordered a 'fancy drink' as well and I have not received it. Can you make it?" The customer behind him says "He is working the sandwich station. He is responsible only for the sandwiches. Go back to the counter to get your coffee drink." I turn around and say to the good cust, as I am handing his sandwich, "Finally someone gets it right. You sir, have just made my day. Thank you, I am glad someone understands how this place works." Now normally I would say something along those lines to the cust but another cust did it for me!
And for the record, I would have offered, like I always do, to make the coffee drink after my run of sandwiches, but never got that chance. And since the sandwiches are already being hot-prepped, I can't stop to make coffees. The custs will have to wait or go back to the counter.
I wish I could have offered him a discount. Sir if you are reading this, I owe you a beer at your favorite tavern.
