  • You Rock Lady

So, I got a notice from my student loans that I was behind. Boy was I freaking out!!!

Not to get too deep into money matters, but the minimum payments were almost 1/4th of my take home pay!!!

When you make as little as I do, that is a LOT. No way I can afford that.

So the lady from student loans calls, and I start to talk to her. I try to have her hold on a second so that I can check something on my phone that related to the call, an accidently hung up on her.

Boy did I feel like a jerk. So I call right back. In the type of timing which seems to be rare in my life, I actually got her, and she took my fervent apologies with grace, and thanked me for calling right back.

We go back and forth about what I can and can't afford to pay, and then she pulls out the kicker... They have a new loan program! Income based.

When all is said and done, my payments are zilch. Zowie. Nada. Nil. Nothing. Yay!!!!

The whole time this wonderful lady is sweet, polite, knowledgeable.

At one point, I asked her a question that she did not know the answer to. She then did exactly what I wish all people in her position would- she said "I'm not sure about that. Would you be willing to hold on a moment so that I could find out?" No more than two minutes later, she is back with an answer AND an un- needed apology.

Great customer service skills... Friendly but not over chatty, sympathetic to my plight but didn't make me feel like a loser or a deadbeat.

I of COURSE spoke to her manager about how great she was... Service like that needs to be rewarded.

So K----- from ------ ------ ------, thank you for making my day.

Wow - polite, understanding, and admits not knowing an answer - a trifecta of greatness.

I will admit to being jealous! Great CS, and a new loan program.

Right now I'm looking at $35k in student loans for a 15 month condensed program.

Since I can't work full time during that period the odds of making a dent in my student loans is pretty much nil!
