  • My first personal tip

It got towards the end of my shift, and I was taking orders and making coffee for the line. My cw was ringing the register, and another cw was making sandwiches. The customers next in line ordered their sandwiches, and I immediately asked "would you like coffee with that?" which is my norm when people order sandwiches so I can make them into combos and save the customers money. These people wanted coffees to go with their sandwiches, but they could not reiterate that to my register cw, who doesn't speak english real well and didn't quite understand what was going on. However, I did. Once she got all the sandwiches rung in, which told my sandwich cw what to make, I made their coffees. I then turned to my sandwich cw and said "Keep making what you were making, these are just being made into combos." He ended up getting slightly confused but with my help made the right sandwiches and my cw rang them through correctly. When I was done telling my sandwich cw what to make, the cust's handed me $2 and said "this is for getting all of our order right."
It's nice when a cust finally notices the tough job I have up there and rewards me for it. That just made my day.

Aw lovely story! I had a similar one happen to me yesterday. A lady ordered her coffee and I gave it to her and she said this was the first time someone from DD got her coffee exactly the way she likes it. Then she personally gave me a dollar tip.

Do you also work at DD by any chance? LOL
