I had a bit of a rough shift. As people in the UK know, it is a holiday weekend at the moment, so we have been very busy! I was running around like a mad-man, trying to serve, take food out and clean at the same time.
A regular customer came in. I love this lady, she is so friendly. She come in on the morning, has a cup of coffee with her husband, chats with the staff and then leaves. She is a customer I am really going to miss. If more customers were like her, I wouldn't want to leave.
C: Aw, sweetheart, it always seems to be you who gets all the busy shifts!
Me: Tell me about it. But it's OK, I won't have to do it for much longer.
I explained to her that I was leaving to become a teacher. She got a tear in her eye!
C: You have an absolute heart of gold. Well done, I am so happy for you. I have witnessed some of the stuff you have gone through in your short time here. Seems to me like the other managers just load off all the shifts they don't want to do on to you. Get out of here, and don't look back!
