Alright so there's a few comic book/hobby/gaming stores in my area.

the two most frequented ones are about a block from each other.

One which I can get better prices at has an ASS of an owner. (I get better prices there because I'm on friendly terms with EVERY other employee there lol just not the owner)

ok think The Simpsons 'comic book guy' come to life. and thats THIS guy (but throw in a greasy ass mullet for hair).

I've actually heard him say to a kid in his normal voice (which sounds alot LIKE comic book guys whiny voice) 'little boy get your hands off the display counter'

christ man you sell comics, collectibles, cards etc. people are gonna browse around and yes handle your merch. deal w/it or get out of the business.

the store i LIKE going too has way friendlier staff. Always ready to chat with you (if you wnat or leave you be if you want). and helpful and just nice to be around.

consequently me and my other geektastic friends will gladly spend our money over in the 'pricier' store. Good/friendly service will make a damn loyal customer out of me even if i'm paying a few bucks more for it.

It makes me wonder if the mean owner is even worth saving by a stern talking to. Lower prices are a good gem in a community and well worth pursuing. I wonder what the owner would say if you confronted him about it. "I happen to be a big cog in the gaming network here, as an active member of my Anime society. We don't like your attitude, and urge you to change it lest we take our business elsewhere."

my understanding from the store employee I get along with is that basically this guy went into business because HIS personal comic collection numbered in the 10's of thousands.

so... he decided to open a store to start selling them (this was in pre-ebay days people). and then just expanded into collectables, action figures, gaming etc.

but MOSTLY he deals with comics/graphic novels.
