  • Great boss, and more...

My first post, though long have I lurked here for the entertainment value. Let it hereby be noted that I work for the evil smiley face.

    #1:

A man came through my line with a crapload of gift cards. I started to ring up the items on the belt, thinking they were his.

"No, no," he says, "Those are hers." That is, they belonged to the woman behind him. "I'm just buying these gift cards here."

He bought a dizzying array of dollar increments on each card--$15, $25, $50, $200, and $400.

    The total came to $1,420.

What was he doing with all these? When I asked him, he replied, "They're for my employees."

I wanna work for you, dude!

With the holidays coming, we had to check more and more people's cards. Because, well...more people were stealing cards, and such things as that.

A customer's total came to over $100, so the register prompted me to look at their card.

When I ask to check her ID against her card, the woman thanked me. She told me her card had been stolen not too long ago, and that's why she had thanked me.

(A surprising change to the people who normally would say, "But why do you need to do THAT!?!?!")

It's not very common these days to have an employer that values his/her employees. That boss rocks!

Wow. I think I'm going to cry. I'm lucky if I'm not scared to lose my job over this or that (most of it corporate's fault) every single day, even when I'm off.
Customers should always be served . . . to the nearest great white.
