  • Westinghouse Monitors

Last March, we purchased 3 brand new systems complete with flat screen monitors. It cost us a pretty penny, let me tell you! About a month ago, I noticed a very distinct flicker on my monitor. Oh NO! I updated my drivers, even swapped my vid card, all to no avail. Once I switched the monitor, and didn't have an issue, I knew I was likely in trouble.

I was wrong! Oh, how I was wrong. I saved the receipt, of course (you spend that many Benjamins, you save the receipt lol) and realized to my joy that it was within the one year manufacturer's warranty. YAY! I called them, and it was easy as pie. I shipped the broken one back, they sent me this pretty new one. Life is good ... except ... I was an idiot.

See, these monitors are HD, but come with a regular video cable, not the special HDMI cable that allows it to actually BE HD. When I shipped my monitor back, can you guess which one I put in the box? Yep, the special $25 cable that didn't come with the monitor. Without much hope, I called them, explained what I was pretty sure I had done, and asked if there was anything they could do. I was 99% sure I was out of luck, after all, it was my mistake, right? The wonderful lady who helped me, Christine, called me today. They not only found my cable, but she was calling to give me a FedEx tracking number! I love her.

I will always, if given a choice, give my business to Westinghouse. They really went above and beyond for me, and gave me excellent customer service! Next, to write this on their website.

    $25 for an HDMI cable?
    Try here:-

$7, assuming a std. length. Longer ones aren't THAT much more.

Lineswine, if you go to a regular retail outlet for a cable, you will be paying that much for it.

We had to pick one up about a year ago and checked both local Best Buys (nothing else close enough to be worth visiting) and they both wanted $25 or so for the cable.

Bought it from Newegg, and when I did the math, we could have bought 3 of them and had them shipped overnight delivery for the same price Best Buy wanted.

        $25 for an HDMI cable?...
And that's if you don't fall for the Monstrous Ka-Bull hork...

"We can measure the difference?" yeah, it's measurable. it's also at least 3 (or more!) orders of magnitude less than can make a perceptible difference in any signal. If the gummint would only do an FDA style true double-blind effectiveness study...

            Yup.

The only thing "monstrous" about their cables are the prices.

Yeah, we bought our systems at Best Buy - I know, I know, but I just can't tell that man no if he gets his mind set on something. So yes, those buggers charged me $25 for that piece of crap. I got it back, though - so it's all good!
