  • UPS Listened To My Complaint!

I live in an apartment, and until recently anyone who sent a package left it at the apartment office. Recently my UPS driver started leaving my packages at the door. My apartment building has 50ish units in it, all facing a courtyard, so everyone could see the package sitting at my door, so I was worried that someone would start stealing my stuff.

Yesterday I submitted a complaint on the UPS website about the driver not leaving things at the office. Today I got an email saying the issue had been forwarded to the local office and then someone from the local office actually called me and told me that the driver had been told to leave packages at the office. Yay! No stolen stuff!

Congrats. I lived in an apartment for years, and had the same fears. Luckily, it was seldom an issue, the local drivers were pretty good about packages.
They say that God only gives us what we can handle. Apparently, God thinks I'm a bad ass.

My apartment complex is iffy. Some drivers will leave stuff with neighbors, some will leave stuff with the office, and the office may or may not be able to find it when they do.

So I just have everything delivered to my work. Much better all around.

        UPS out here

Has the ability-no matter where you live in town- to deliver to you as close to dark as possible, over the entire freaking town! Whatever-whomever, no one but businesses get something like a daylight delivery. (Well-once in 2002 they showed up just after lunch.) Number two, stealthiest-fastest 'Run up the walkway-drop and run' people I ever saw. Never ring the bell, never leave with neighbors- thump and 'BYE'. At least I can usually hear their trucks drive off.......

Oh, the UPS guys have nothing on the PoS USPS delivery person we had. The only reason we ever were able to spot her failing to leave packages she didn't feel like carrying to their destination was that some of the neighborhood dogs would bark at her, and when you've got dogs barking in sequence like that, you know they've caught the scent of your ninja mailman.

We and our customers have had excellent experience with UPS as well. We use them exclusively to ship domestically unless the customer is willing to use his own account with another shipping company.

The driver who covers our neighborhood usually comes through in the evenings. Which is great because we're home and know the package won't be sitting outside all day.

If you want to be sure that they don't drop and run (which is a legitmate concern in some neighborhoods) you can always request "Signature required" when arranging shipping with the person or company sending the package to you. Otherwise, you are allowing them to drop and run.
