Today I finally called our local council because the internet factsheets about owning animals, specifically chickens, were contradictory. The guy that's in charge of that department told me that yes I can have chickens, and even went to the trouble of going onto Google Earth and measuring the boundries and placement of the other houses to find out exactly where in our yard (if anywhere) we could have the chooks. He told me exactly where we can have them and that it was the right size for the amount of chickens that we want, and that the road we're on isn't busy enough to affect the quality of the eggs. To top it all off, he thanked me for asking instead of just buying them and hoping for the best!

Have to fence the front yard first, so it's still a couple of months away
. The whole family is looking forward to it though and Jazzybee wants a silky called 'Sonic'. I like to be prepared and will definately put up pictures when we finally get them.
