The best speeding ticket

BG-Me and hubby live in a neighborhood with narrow streets and no sidewalks. We have 2 small children. People around here do not stop at stop signs and go 50+ MPH and these streets have speed limits of 25. Us and a neighbor have been calling local PD and city council about the problem as 4 more little kids have moved in across the street. We have been getting the impression that nothing will be done.

Hubby was on his way to the store and got pulled over a few streets away(He was gong 19 miles over the speed limit). The cop was really nice and professional. He tells hubby that he is out looking for speeders because they have been getting complaints and does he know that there are lots of kids around here. My hubby has never been so happy to get a ticket(he usually doesn't speed but the kids were not in the car).

I have heard that if you see the cops working a particular stretch of road really hard it's because they've received complaints about drivers.

Well, it's great that the police responded to the complaints and were upping patrols.

However, in my opinion it was kind of hypocritical to report speeders, then speed yourselves. It really doesn't matter that your kids were not in the car; they would not have been the ones getting run over. Sorry.

Glad your hubby was cool about the ticket though; it's a thankless job for those of us that have to write them.

Yeah, I don't do the driving but it is hypocritical of him.

Man, I wonder what the price tag on running a stop sign at 25mph over the limit in a residential area is?

Seems like they could buy themselves a new cop car after a week.
