  • It made my day! Thank you subway guy!

So my college recently started doing community dollar things. Each student gets $50 a semester to spend at participating local restaurants ect... This is brand shiny new, just started this semester. Well my local subway is participating so I walked over there for lunch today.

Before I ordered I made sure that there were no problems with them taking my card because I didn't want to order food then find the card didn't work and I had no way to pay for it. Only to find out their system isn't programed to accept our community dollars yet . But no big deal, I tell the guy behind the counter not to worry about it then. Very politely mind you, since there were other places in walking distance I could get lunch and it really wasn't a big deal.

The guy next to him (manager I think) goes "it's our fault, the system should be up by now, your lunch is half off if you want to get something."

me: All I've got on my right now is my student card, it's ok though I'll be back when your system is up and running don't worry about it.

Him: No. you walked down here in the cold, you're hungry, get in line your lunch is on me today.

I got an unasked for free sub for lunch today! *Happy wiggles*

That's pretty awesome. It's nice to hear about a manager who rewards the GOOD customers, rather than only the ones who whine and shout and complain.

that made me go AWWWW. There ARE decent ppl in this world.

It's one of two things in my mind:

1.) He was in the holiday spirit.
2.) he was afraid you would call a higher up and complain. *because we know that some ppl will front niceness until they get home.*
I can only please one person a day, today isn't your day, and tomorrow doesn't look good either.

When someone asks you a stupid question, give them a stupid answer.

hope you write a nice letter to corp about how good the service was [in a generic sort of way because sometimes if corp hears that he comped you because of a screw up the store gets penalized] and copy the store on it =)

Already done, a copy of the original post, rewritten to sound a bit more professional (notice how it has no locational identifiers) has been e-mailed to corp.
