  • Self sighting and awesome grocery store

I don't know how I missed it but I left a bag of my groceries in the bottom of the cart when I was putting my purchases in the car. I didn't notice it until I got home but... the weather was so crappy I was NOT going to go back out. (seriously I was doing 20 in a 40 zone, and it was getting worse out)

On a whim I stopped off at the service counter yesterday to see if I'd indeed left a bag behind. I listed off the items in the bag (Brick of Monterey jack cheese, and 2 packages of Wegman's brand fajita wraps, and a cat toy). They found a listing in the book that matched my description - except for the cat toy.

Service lady: Go grab the items and bring them up here.
    Me: !! Thank you!!

    I love my grocery store.
If they'd said "sorry tough luck" it would have been fine - my fault really for leaving them behind. but they let me replace the items.

I never use the bottom rack on grocery carts, and the one time I did I forgot a case of beer on it. I realized it when I was almost home, turned around and went back. The cart was not where I left it (this store has no cart corrals) but my case of beer was on the ground where the cart had been. I was lucky.

oh i didn't... i think the checkout lady put them there. either that or i was totally blind and didn't see another bag on top.

but still... i gotta love wegmans for letting me get the items back.
maybe later i'll go and repurchase the cat toy.

That's one thing I liked about the Walmart I worked at. If a customer forgot a bag, it was logged and then the items put back. The logbook was so that if a customer came back looking for their missing stuff, we had a record that it was indeed forgotten and the customer could get everything back. Very nice system.
