There is a Dominoes close to my house... say what you will about Dominoes but when its fresh out of the oven it tastes really good to me. I tip well so when I order my pizza gets here less than five minutes when its out of the oven.
As with every place they have thier share of SCs. On one particular frigid day they had a carry out only special. Okay, I can do that. When I go pick up the pizza the manager gets off the phone with some customer and he didnt look very happy.
Having sold me many pizzas he knew I was sympathetic with him so he explained what happened. Some people had placed a delivery for 3 large pizzas and then cancelled it... or rather he cancelled it. After the pizzas were made he recognized the number that the order was placed from and called them back because they had made pranks before trying to get free pizza, ie driver gets there and they have no cash and kids are starving and who knows what other nonsense they would make up.
So he made it that they could only pay by credit card. He had a new person working the phone who didnt know about them yet. So he had called them back to get the CC info. They of course refuse. So now he has three large pizzas and no one wants them.
He wants to make some money off these pizzas so he tells me he will sell them to me for $5.00. After I ask what is on them I decide sure (I wouldnt accept it if it was something I wouldnt eat), and tell him that I can afford another 15.00.
He said no... not $5.00 each. $5.00 for all three. So I got 4 Large fresh hot pizzas for less than 20.00. Luckily my brother decided to visit with his kids so the pizza was eaten very quickly.
So.. even though I was willing to pay more he clarifed that he was not asking for more. That he was just trying to get some of the food costs back. Guess being a good customer serisously paid off. I got two similar deals since then. Both delivered to my house and under different circumstances. Not as rich as the first one. But hey, next to no cost for pizza! No complaints and high praise to that manager. ( I think he is also the franchisee owner, not sure though.)
