  • A nice and a suck

The best thing about working at my job is the HUGE employee discount, which takes off 75% or more on ALL stays EVERYWHERE as long it's in our brand of hotels. Which is pretty cool, since our hotels are very expensive, and you can stay in a nice resort in a nice place and afford it. Lots of people take advantage of this. I haven't yet, since I'm too much of a workaholic to ask for time off . LOL. BTW, there IS a BIG catch to this employee discount: it is only for SMOKING rooms.

Being a non smoker myself, and I can understand have awful it is to be stuck in a smelly room. NS rooms are a higher demand. Everyone know this rule. Everyone who has worked in a hotel before that is. Still the EMPLOYEES beg and plead and whine about allergies, or asthma, especially the employees coming from foreign countries. One from Brazil actually wrote a letter to the GM about how horrible a CW was to her for giving her a smelly smoking room, which was what she booked. I dunno, maybe these people figure "Hey, I've been serving people, now it's time for them to be serving ME! Gimmegimmegimmegimmegimme" ETC. Out comes the spoiled inner child. And thus an SC is born. Until it's back to work,

And then one night this guy came in with his girl. I could see that he was traveling on the employee rate. Did the usual checkin spiel. He asked if we had a King instead of what he booked. We didn't. I was thinking, Oh no, not one of THESE -_-;; But he said fine and I kept an eye on him. My experience was telling me that he would ask again, and I was right. But at least he wasn't demanding or prissy about it.

Soooooo...as we were finishing up, this dirty old black guy leans on the buzzer. At first I thought he was this cabbie that looks just like him, who regularly buzzes to use our bathroom. But I was wrong. Turns out he's this crazy weirdo. I decide to deal with him after I send my checkins up in case something happens.

The guy's mumbling to himself and goes directly in back of my two checkins, who are glancing at him. I hurry up as fast as possible, thrust the keys at them and say have a good night. The guy, who knows exactly what kind of weirdos bother hotels, looks me in the eye, and says, "Are you gonna be okay?"

    My face was like: ,,,

I could tell he wasn't saying that just to be polite, or impress his girl, or to get into my pants, or whatever. He was genuinely concerned about my welfare. I assured him that I would, and he left, glancing at the weirdo again.

After he left, the weirdo came up and said, "Is that guy your boyfriend?" and I said "No he is a guest." And then he told me that he just got out of jail and they raped and killed people in there, and he would do the same thing to that guy if he ever looked at him "in that way" again.

At this point I was seriously alarmed and told him to get the F out, and he wouldn't, saying he was 'just joking'. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Who jokes about that ?!After many coaxings, he finally left. But he came back when my manager was here, who chased him out again.

After he left, the guy called down, asking if I was alright, and I said I was, and he again asked for a King. This time I was sincerly sorry to say that I did not in fact have one to give him. He said ok and hung up.

In conclusion, I'm glad there are some nice people that care about others and not just about themselves.
    Can't reason with the unreasonable.
The only thing worse than not getting hired is getting hired.
