  • Dear eBay Customer:

I made a mistake in shipping which resulted in you being charged by the USPS. Thank you for letting me resolve it for you instead of a) ripping my head off b) leaving negative feedback and c) opening up a case against me. Because you were cool about it, I was cool about it and could resolve the problem quickly. Now we're both happy and there's no drama.

You have no effing IDEA how much I value customers like you <3

I love eBay customers who actually know how eBay and mail order works.

Right now, we've got daily refunds to customers because eBay's automated shipping calculator that they force sellers to use doesn't work right, so it's overcharging people left and right.

Well, one of those lovely customers got his bank statement, realized he'd gotten money back, and then sent it back to us with a note to buy donuts with it. The bosslady has ok'd the donuts, which we're picking up tomorrow morning.

Customers who deal with problems without drama are sooooooooooooooooooooooooo rare. *clings to hers* I mean most of my customers nothing goes wrong, so who knows, but when things do go wrong, such a TINY number are reasonable about it. It's sad! Though I have two of them right now, zomg. One a frequent repeat customer who is MADE of awesome, and one actually from here on cs, who is being really kind after I completely botched her stuff.

I actually had troubles as an eBay BUYER.
I thought I had been overcharged for shipping (turns out I had), I wrote a message to the seller asking if he knew why it had happened. I did not even mention wanting my money back (10 GBP, not a fortune but they are better in my pocket than in someone else's) and he sent me a VERY heavy reply, full of insults. Mah.

I've had a similar thing happened to me this week. I wanted to return a part that wasn't working (not to mention was filthy and packed horribly, but I didn't bring that into the conversation to avoid more drama) and the guy went effing ballistic on me. He even went so far as to question how I did business on eBay, the integrity of my shop and imply that I didn't know what I was doing based solely on my gender.

I never give (or get, for that matter) negative feedback. But this guy pretty much insured it after that crap.

I'm a firm believer in getting what you give and I very rarely have issues. Most people are surprised that I don't give them a hard time about returns, which is also why I have a lot of return customers.
