This is the letter I sent to corporate headquarters of the Applebees in High Point NC today.
A bit of background. Thursday evening, I went to Applesbees with some friends after I tested for my Green Stripe belt at my Tae Kwon Do school. We went to enjoy ladies night and celebrate a good testing.
We had a good time: good food, good service, and good company. This letter is about what happened after I left.
------------
Dear Sir,
I am writing to express my pleasure with the service I received at the Applebees at
High Point, NC on May 26th, 2011.
The story of my great service actually came AFTER my visit on that date. While I was there, I got the same good service I've always gotten at Applesbees. The food was good. The service was good. My friends and I had a good time, and I showed my appreciation with a good tip.
After I got home, I realized I had lost my pedometer. I did not know where I had lost it. Eventually I retraced my steps to Applebees. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the manager Dan told me my pedometer was indeed there. It had been turned in by someone (not sure if staff or a guest) and placed in a safe. He could not get into the safe that evening, but he promised me if I came back the next day after 4 I could get it.
I returned today, and true to his word, Dan had my pedometer waiting for me.
I am very grateful. It is an expensive pedometer, and I did not want to have to replace it. I appreciate the honesty of who ever turned it in, and the consideration of the staff for keeping it in a secured place in the hopes I would eventually come looking for it.
I want corporate headquarters to know they have great people working for them.
Thank you!

i'm glad to know that not just my previous work place is like that. The applebees here isn't all that great is a lot of ways, but it's wonderful to know that you have one.
