For the first time in I don't know how many years, I seriously overslept. By 2-hours.
I panicked because the coworker I would have relieved had now been there an extra 1.5 hours, my boss would be upset, etc. I thought I was in deeeep doo-do. I called my boss right away and told her what happened; but the first words out of her mouth were "Oh thank god you're ok!" She and all the other managers were so concerned that I hadn't shown or called, because it's highly unlike me, that they were convinced I'd been hurt, in a car crash, or something (the previous day's paper had an article on someone we worked with 6-months past dying in a car crash, so it was on everybody's minds)! She told me to take my time getting there, that she was just glad I was ok. She even hugged me when I showed-up and said, hey, it happens.
She said they were trying to figure what route I might have taken to work so they could listen for info on accidents, and which police to call. They even had my personnel file out and were ready to call my dad! I feel bad I they were so worried and am pretty disappointed in myself; I had set my alarm, but turned it off while doing so by accident.
Hee, the coworker I was so worried about relieving? He said he wasn't going to wait around any longer and left after an hour, effectively abandoning his post. And this is a guy I've covered for several times. Myself, I've covered for a coworker who's been late from 1/2 and hour to a full hour several times a week!

I love my current manager...she also knows me well enough to know I wouldn't do certain things on purpose and even if I had to take some kind of formal warning for not following SOP, she'd still tell me not to let it get to me too much, that we all make mistakes. She has really helped me a lot in feeling better about my performance at work too, and I guess it's working because my scores are way up.
