I have a loan for my car through Ally.
Unfortunately, because of bad budgeting, I was at risk for my first late payment on my car. So, I figured it'd be best to call instead of just paying late.
I called, and asked the rep how bad the late fee is if I'm 10 days late on my payment (next time I get paid). I was honest and said it was my own fault and bad budgeting for the holidays.
She put me on hold for a second and said that because I've never been late with a payment before, they'd give me a one-time 10 day grace period with no late fee.
