I had new tires installed several months ago (Ok, so there was a bit of a mix-up with my tires being sent to the wrong store, but that got fixed). Not only did they fix the plastic cover on the front of my car afterward (the plastic had torn from the bolts), but they helped me out yesterday too.
I had colorful metal valve caps on my old tires that they transferred to the new tires. However, these few months later I couldn't get my caps off to put air in the tire; they were stuck tight and I didn't want to damage the valve stem. I did a walk-in on a Saturday Morning and told the guy at the desk, Steve, my problem. He took a look at them and explained that the metal of the caps had interacted with the metal of the valve stem and corroded, which is why the recommend only using plastic caps or chrome. He took the car back and said he would try and get them off. He got all the caps off but one, which was so bad he said they'd replace the valve stem. They did that and he showed me the inside of the caps and how they'd degraded. I thanked them for not making me feel like an idiot and how I'd never thought of the two metals interacting. He recommended some designer plastic caps if I was going for colors and didn't even charge me for the work, replacement valve or new caps.
