  • Bouncers: The unsung heroes

Being a bouncer is a shitty job. A bouncer's job is essentially to be a first line of defense against SCs for me and my other co-workers. They have to stand in that door night after night, and explain to people that they can't get in, or have to leave. These people are, to varying degrees, rude, drunk, threatening, violent, possibly on drugs and sometimes armed. Yet these guys stand there, night after night, and take it, so that my co-workers and I can have as safe and pleasant a working environment as possible.

I've seen a fair share of rude and obnoxious bouncers in my day, when on the other side of the proverbial fence, but having seen both sides, I don't begrudge them a bit of an attitude. In my book, anyone who is willing to put up with abuse, threats and violence on a day-to-day basis as a matter of course, to make the world a little bit better for someone else, is a hero.
The customer is always right, but this is a public house, and you are a guest.
