  • Lady, please only shop at our location; you are wonderful.

I got a call the other day from a custy that had bought an Ipad for her son, which wasn't quite what he wanted. So they returned it and bought another. She ended up seeing the 2 charges on her bill, but no credit for the return. I asked some questions and deduced that it had been twelve days. It definitely should've been credited by then. And she was leaving the country and wanted to get this taken care of and maybe use the card on vacation. I wasn't sure we could do anything at store level, so I put her on hold to ask Boss what number I should have the customer call. Well, boss picked up the phone and started asking quesitons and the lady had to explain it all over again. I did not perceive from our end--was standing right there--that the lady was getting impatient. I heard Boss say she remembered the transaction, which was just perfect, as she happened to be there the day the lady called, and was probably the best person to help. So the lady's patience was rewarded. Later on the lady came in and though she didn't look thrilled to stand there and wait while Boss tried to find the transaction (which she never did), she did not complain once and when I expressed sympathy for all the inconvenience, she was gracious about it and even kind of laughed with me about the ridiculousness of life sometimes. I don't know how it turned out, but I hope her patience was rewarded with some kind of We're Sorry coupons or something, as she had to travel to 2 cities to get this taken care of. I was there when she and hubs--a delightful guy--left and they graciously thanked us for trying to help. Wow--so many people could learn from her.
"Is it hot in here to you? It's very warm, isn't it?"--Nero, probably

Although the credit cards/banks can take the money almost immediately..some can take up to 30 days to do a refund/return. Stores have little power to speed things up, though sometimes they can.
Engaged to the amazing Marmalady. She is my Silver Dragon, shining as bright as the sun. I her Black Dragon (though good honestly), dark as night..fierce and strong.

It usually takes about 10 business days for the credit card company to actually receive the refund once the cashier/rep puts it in the system. However with AE, if the credit isn't there they can open a dispute, which suspends the charge while under investigation. So at least they don't have to pay it while waiting, and if it is on a credit card instead of charge, no interest is charged while under dispute.
