So, Saturday night, the keyboard to our ONLY cash register just stopped working. There is no way to ring in sales without the keyboard.
My employee was super awesome and started with the hand written receipts immediately while I called tech support.
Tech support had us run through some things to try and fix it, but to no avail. They put in a ticket for a new keyboard and a tech to come install it, but we weren't expecting him to show up until Sunday or Monday.
I was just resigning myself to a night of suck with all hand written receipts, when I received a call back from tech support. We wound up plugging in our keyboard from the back office computer so we could at least type stuff in (no magnetic strip, though).
And then magically, the tech showed up with the new keyboard. I hugged him.
I bought cookies for my employee for keeping her calm (and only messing up by 50 cents, which was pretty awesome because it was our busiest hour that she was doing this). And I'm sending a thank you note to our tech support people.
