Clients have a tendency to password lock their Outlook PST files (the files that actually store all of your emails) then forget the password.

Sorry, can't help you unless you remember it.

Sure you can help. Uninstall/re-install fixes all. Sorry about that life-or-death email you needed though.

I've found a utility that grabs your email passwords. Its freeware, called emailpass.

Would another hack/ password utility be useful in this kind of situation?

Save the user from their own laziness/stupidity and they will never see the reason why they should learn their password. After-all you can always fix the problem.

Hang a sign..."Password recovery $49.99" marketing 101 (it seems so much cheaper then 50 bucks.

If they go for it, you get paid almost 50 bucks and it takes you what about a minute...You may be saving them from their own laziness and stupidity, but at least you will have a plentiful beer fund established.

One of the other techs had a utility that he sent me and I threw it on my thumb drive.

The scary part is that I don't know if the client set it up to be something really easy and she didn't have time to do it yesterday, but I think the password option is now off.

There's always a hack that fixes the password problem. You can also password protect your office files, and we've had people do that here, then leave. Their supers call us and say, Come take this password off. Nope. No doing. They password protected that file for a reason. You want it so bad, you can call them and get their password.
