  • Lack of company training.

Where I work at, we are supposed to support the software that comes with digital still cameras and camcorders. However, never received thorough training on all of the software and how it works. For example, importing video, edit video, and creating a dvd from that video. We tried asking about it, but were told to "just look it up in the tools". We never had thorough training on any of the software and it is not easy getting the "demo" cameras and camcorders to work with them - not enough time when you are tied to a phone.

    Any thoughts?

Management's setting you up to fail because they're stuck in the mindset that none of you will be around long enough for the training to be worth it.

Do you have model numbers / names?
Can you look the manuals up online and read between calls?

What about opening the software between calls and looking through the help index...should be something there.

I agree that the training sucks - oh, excuse me, WHAT training...but you'll have to fight to survive. Plus, if you show some initiative here, you'll be at the front

      Good luck

Definately can look at the manual online - pdf files thank goodnes. but the manuals are just as stupid as (some/most of) our customers. They are translated Japanese manuals - go figure.

I have installed the software, but it is quite useless if you don't have the camera/camcorder connected to your workstation. I have to "ask" permission, fill out a sign-out permission form, have someone get the device, then use my own time to play with the software.

I don't think we have any specific amount of hours required out of the year for training. Except when new models come out, which should be soon. But is more like a show and tell session.
