  • SC expecting way too much from their equipment.

Why do some SC's expect a dvd recorder to tune into satellite or cable(like above ch135)? Even if the dvd recorder has a digital tuner in it. Had a customer calling in today with that issue. Then expects the dvd recorder to record off of said satellite system and watch another satellite channel through the dvd recorder's tuner??

Same as when people on my games' forum spout the "I've got this brand new computer and the graphics are horrible! This game Sucks!!". After a quick check they've got themselves a £400 Dell that's got an integrated Intel VGA and 1Gb ram (whilst trying to run Vista).
Some will even go so far as the "It's new, therefore it should be able to run blah, blah, blah..."

      VCR

Had one customer claim, no demanded that we install the cheap addon (less than $100) into her North American Panasonic NSTC VCR that would let her play PAL tapes from Europe.

We confirmed that it was an off-the-shelf consumer VCR, explained that it could not be and offered to get the address of a tape conversion service or order a PAL capable VCR.

She refused swearing up and down (I mean with real curse words) that her cousin in Europe said it was a simple change and refuse all suggestions that she was mistaken or misheard. We even point out a monitor (cheap too) that we had that would handle both PAL and NSTC format, but she would still need a PAL compatible VCR.

All was in vain, as she still insisted we were trying to rip her off and her cousin who lived thousands of miles away on another continent knew the local video hardware better than we did.
