  • Day 1, and I've heard one first hand

Not really an SC, but "eventful" nonetheless.

So, I started work today at a telecommunications company. They offer digital phone, among other things.
Being day 1, and only just started orientation, we're instructed to listen in on TSRs calls to get an idea of how things happen, just to get familiar with the whole procedure and all t hat.
So, we splice into the headset lines, and listen in on headsets whose microphones have been disabled.

Me: The newbie (to the forums too!)
A: The TSR whose call that I'm listening in on.
B: The other new guy who is also listening in.
OM: Old Man. Sounds like he's in his mid-80s.

A: Thank you for choosing <company name>. My name is A, how may I help you?
OM: Um... ....hello. What was your name again?
    A: A.
OM: Hello A. .... .... .... I'm OM... and I'm calling from <town>. ... I got your digital phone because of the value, but... I'm having trouble calling some numbers...
A: Okay, could I get your phone number please?
    OM: ###
    A: And your address?
OM: YYY. I've got a few numbers that aren't working.
    A: Okay, what are they?
    OM: ###.... .... and ###.
A writes them down and asks OM to hold so A can try the numbers as well to see if they're invalid. From the area code, she notes they're both probably from the States [caller and all of us are in Canada], and judging from the fact that the man didn't include the country code in his numbers, that's why they weren't going through.
Second number is a number to some security software company. No problem there.

Now, bearing in mind that there are 3 people total listening on the phone, A, B, and myself...

The first of the two numbers, she calls. Immediately, without hearing anyone pick up, or anything, female on female audio porn starts playing -- part way through as well.

A hangs up. A, B, and myself look at each other and try to stifle laughter and shock.
To make sure she didn't input the number wrong, A tries again. The call picks up a moment after the first recording.

A: To the other TSRs around her] Hey! Everyone! Call this number!! ###!

She tries it one more time as well, and this is what we get before she manages to disconnect:
"So, do you want to her?"

A then picks up to OM and explains that he should be dialing 1 before the number so he can call out-of-country.

OM: Oh! It's that simple? ... Thank you very much!
A: You're welcome. Is there anything else we can assist you with today?
    OM: No.
A: Thank you for choosing <company>. Have a good day!

A seems cool and all. She's middle-aged and seems really down to earth and whatnot so she wasn't being mean.

    Just... ewwww.

Don't give out dirty phone numbers to tech support to try calling... especially if you're an old man!
No offense to any elders in the population. There's nothing wrong with being frisky. I just don't want the mental image!
