Today while working in several stores I had emails going back and fourth with one of the admins in my building.

The subject line:

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

Already this is a bad sign.

She can't email one of her clients. It bounces back undeliverable. I confirm with her that she can email other external clients so the issue is either
1) She has the wrong email address
2) Her client's email server is rejecting the email.
3) The domain is blocked because it is one she shouldn't be dealing with anyway (porn, etc.).

Of course, she says he's IT and it's not their server.

I tell her the error message she got is from their server (hence the domain it came from) and part of the message mentions security, so I figured they blocked all email from my company thinking it is spam. The client's email team will have to change that in their server.

Her request?

Can I call him and walk him though that.

Um, hell no. I am not their IT, I thought her client was?

Since this is the same team that sent my boss a nastygram for me not training their new hires on how to use their laptops, I'm expecting another one. I already forewarned my boss about this.

Now, while IT folks will sometimes help each other out with oddball issues, setting security execeptions is something they should know how to do. Heck, a quick run on google brings up a half dozen sites that have walk throughs on how to do it on the Internet connection solution and email software we use at work. Something definately stinks.

Should be fun.
