I had this one today:

1: Internet explorer won't open
Me: Click on it
1: I'm clicking, its not opening, the screen is blank
Me: Okay, hit the enter key (could be in standby and not responding to the mouse)
1: It's not working
Me: Is the monitor on?
1: Yes, the light is on (Older monitor has only one colour LED)
Me: Okay, I'll be there in 15 minutes (walk to work in the cold )

Damn thing was turned off. I press the power button, walk out and go back home.
